Caladwen sat at the entrance of the cave, she had been up most of the night watching her brothers sleeping, knowing that Acrimonious would question her insomnia she had laid with him till he had fallen asleep before sneaking away from the silent male. As morning broke, female stepped outside into the open air and inhaled heavily, she had spent most of the night thinking about what her brother had told them. Feeling some bitterness towards the emerald female she had met, oh now innocent she had acted the whole time when in reality she was hiding such a dirty secret, one that involved her beloved brother. Growl passed her maw as she took to the mountains edge, looking down upon the snow covered land, she knew soon she would have to go looking for her medicine but today she wanted nothing more than to seek out the green bitch and flay her alive.
Lácrimos had enjoyed a good rest with his siblings for once. However living in these lands he was no fool to danger. He tended to wake up if only for a moment to every little noise, a twitch of his ears, or a blink of his eyes and he'd nod back off.. However by morning he realized his sister hadn't returned and so he shuffled his way away from Acri and gently padded his way over towards Lana, just about the time she began to growl. Gently the toned brute sat down beside her and looked out onto the land. His gaze never met hers. A sigh escaped him as he looked out into the distance to his home for once a calm tone followed his words "You feeling any better?" he said before turning his head to shift his gaze onto Lana "This one is supposed to be the silent brooding type. Not sure I could share that title." It was a bit playful but really he wasn't too happy about things either.. however he knew something was bothering her far deeper than it was him.
Caladwen remained silent, she wasn't sure if words would come to her so easily like they normally do. However it wasn't like Lana to be rude and she gave a sharp exhale, trying to show her annoyance with what had been said that night. Whether he picked up on that she didn't know, knowing that she was also a stranger in ways just like this new acquired sibling, knowing nothing of the past years and her brothers adventures. Taking seat she curled her tail around her front paws and closed her eyes, letting images of the world try sooth her anger, it helped a little but the pressure of the situation was too much and she shook her head, small mane shifted the snow that had fallen since from her "I am not happy about what brother had said, I do not understand how some females could hurt others like that" she snorted, although she knew some did not stay with their partners, maybe it was the unique bond she had with Acrimonious that had made her this bitter knowing that no matter what she would never leave his side "Such a fool she is, denying a father of his children and of love" although she wouldn't admit that she was pleased that her brother was no longer mated, she was protective of him. Eyes opened and head turned to look at the new brother, she remembered he hadn't given his name "So do you plan on sharing your name with us?"
Lácrimos listened intently to his sister, her words followed by a low "hm.." He wasn't pleased about the situation for many of the same reasons. The fact his new found family would never be complete or full.. He shrugged his shoulders "Seems to be a curse in this family for us to never all be together... bad things happen." His words were a bit Stern as his look went back to the distance. Eyes closed as a gust of wind blew by. He shook his head as if biting back on revealing something but his gaze returned to his sister again after awhile. "She is a fool, you have every right to want to rip her throat out.. she has hurt our brother deeply if hes even lost the will to fight..." Not in the literal sense but the emotional manner more than anything. The male held back a smile on the matter of his name, "Ah.. I would, but I fear father gave it to me as a joke."
Caladwen's ears perked as he spoke of a curse, could this be what it truly was? She hadn't seen her parents or her brother for so many years and she wasn't aware that her father had bred outside the family that once was, she gave a small nod and looked back out onto the land, she could feel her body getting slightly weak "You might be right, it does seem that our family was never meant to be together, but fate has brought us back" she paused and side glanced at him "Or at least some of us, who knows how many others we have walking the land out there" attention was back to looking at the ocean sky light up from the sun, sending ripples of orange across it. She wasn't sure if the male was trying to encourage the negative feelings whirling inside her, she had never been the aggressive type so these feelings were very confusing for her "She is a fool, I hope she or her pack never step paw on this land for I will surely take that throat from her" she replied, voice smooth for someone who was trying to be authoritative(Sp?). Taking a deep breath she sighed heavily and head turned back to look at the cave, spotting her sleeping brother still soundly asleep, she felt some anger towards him for not sharing this news sooner but also for not fighting the female for his children "He is strong at heart, strong for pushing forward with his life after thinking his sister had been killed" another heavy sigh as she turned back to look at her new brother, soft smile was given to him "I am sure father was not so cruel as to give you a bad name"
Lácrimos couldn't help but laugh for a moment "Fate eh? It'd be nice if that was the case..." it was nice to dream, really somehow the male thought that nothing involving this family ever came by chance. They were a cursed breed... It seemed none were ever happy or to stay with their loved ones.. however now wasn't time to speak of that. "Ah, there are many of us... all different sorts... Life seems to be difficult for us though. We're impervious to sickness.. but not to a broken heart..." He himself would know. But for now he remained quiet on that topic, his sister didn't need more hardships. It seemed she had been going through alot recently. His eyes followed her own over to her brother and he smiled lightly as he looked upon him. it was a nice feeling to have family again... He looked back to her reading her emotions "Don't be too mad at him... As I said, our family seems to be cursed." Lácrimos paused and looked down to his paws "He is strong at heart... however we wear ours on our sleeves it seems." He'd look over to her again as if implying that her own was showing He shook his head thinking lightly to his past on the other topic "Ah.. You see, he wanted a piece of his first son in me.. So he titled this one Lacrimos... "
Caladwen shifted a little, she knew she couldn't stay mad at Acrimonious for long. She hated feeling some kind of negative emotion towards him, however she was more than happy to have him back. It had been a struggle the past six years, she had stuck close to her home until the humans came back looking for other caralaks, thinking of the humans she made a small rumble anger "Fate indeed has smiled kindly on us for this moment, now it seems it's pushing my emotions in a direction I never thought was possible" she would groan if not for her manners "I know only of a few ice caralaks" this is something she had called herself, an ice wolf "But I have spent the years hiding and know not of others, brother was the only one I searched for but I thought him dead" guilt was clear on her face and she knew this would never leave her, no matter how much she was glad to find him and that he was alive. Pain shot through her body and she let out a silent yelp, she needed to find her medicine soon "Lácrimos is a wonderful name, father picked well with you. Although strange that he would name you after brother dear" a faint laugh was made, she was thankful father had not blessed her with the same fate. Gaze found him once again and she sighed "My heart is always open, for I found if I closed it I would become bitter. That is what I saw in a few others while I crossed the land in recent years" although she had stayed away from others, she had ran into a few stone hearted creatures, not wanting to become like them she had shared her feelings with herself and the land around her. It was the only thing that had kept her sane enough to live on "You do not know if sage grows around here? I am in need of some along with other herbs" she was indeed growing weaker and didn't have the heart to wake her brother for help.
Lácrimos Paused for a moment and thought "Ah... father spoke to this one of jungle Caralaks...Tundra, Ice, Sand.... My mother was an Ice Caralak.." he trailed off for a moment "I've never seen the other species.. nor do I care to, our deminure can differ drastically from what I've heard.." The male raised a back paw to scratch behind his cracked horn on his right side. Happy groans escaping him as he did so. Eventually when he got rid of the itch he shook his head and returned to reality. "Wonderful isn't the word I'd pick, dear sister. Living up to father's dreams isn't as simple as it sounds.... perhaps it was out of guilt he named me this.." He rolled his shoulders. "Its of no importance.." Clearly not the biggest fan of his name and the things behind it He smiled again it was nice to hear her talking in a slightly better mood, He may be a bit cold to the outside but no reason she should be. Lácrimos looked around and nodded "Aye... there should be some towards the lake... can't promise there will be much though, it tends to grow on the other side of the mountain... Though some can be found if you look hard enough." Oddly he didn't question her reasons for needing the herb, however the confusion/concern was within his eyes.. but he wasn't one to pry.
Caladwen was unsure of what to think about other species of Caralaks, her homeland was filled with tundra caralaks. Something she did not want to think about, abandoning them was one of the biggest regrets she held, along with losing her brother for so long. Hearing of his mother she was given thoughts of her own mother, family was very important to her "I am curious to know if I will ever run into them" silently uttered to herself although this wasn't a time to be thinking about it, she had more important matter to address, head tilted to watch her Lácrimos scratch himself and it seemed to make him happy "For whatever reason he named you, you should be proud of it. Although if it bothers you so, you could make a name for yourself" her herself wasn't found of the name Caladwen, although parents called her Karina a lot after birth she picked up Lana from her brother, something she was grateful for "Then I shall look at the lake, for now a small dose will be fine. Once brother wakes up I will ask him to hunt with me, he has a better nose for finding these things" it was true, however the past six years she had hunted on her own and managed to keep herself healthy, maybe she just wanted an excuse to spend more time with her beloved brother. Heat washed over her as she thought about Acrimonious but quickly shook it off and stood turning towards the direction of the lake "You can scout with me if you wish, It would be nice to have some company. It would be wise for us to drink too, brother can join us when he's ready" she waited to see if he would follow and if he did she would make her way towards the lake.
Lácrimos looked back to the den to their sleeping brother and shrugged his shoulders. It was a shame the curse seemed to befall all of them in one way or another. "Has a better nose for these things?" he raised a brow, he was still unaware of his brother's skills in that nature. The male stretched out his limbs and little creeks and cracks could be heard before he straightened back up "I could do for a little walk...let him rest though, seems like hes been through alot the past few days." Lacrimos was far from a passionate person, but he could easily respect what his brother had been through and is still silently dealing with. The male hopped down and followed his sister towards the mostly frozen lake, Keeping in step beside her he wandered. The lake was almost fully frozen except for around the edges, and the snow covered most of anything after a quick look around.Lácrimos heaved a sigh "You may have to dig through some of the snow.. I didn't know it had gotten this bad down here.. you could actually see the grass last time i was down here.."
Caladwen gave a small nod to Lácrimos, she knew that it was best for her other brother to rest. He was going through enough as it was and she didn't want to pester him for her petty illness, sigh escaped her maw as she continued to walk down to the lake with him, searching the snow covered land she knew this would be a hard task for her. Turning to look at Lácri she smiled "It's not a problem" almost a grin was given as she lowered her snout to the earth and began inhaling for the scent, she had pushed herself around one half of the lake till she picked up the scent she had been looking for, a heavy flower scent rushed to her head and she began to paw at the snow below her. It must of been a strange sight for many to see, a wolf digging through snow to find food, it didn't take long for her to un earth the herb and with ease took the whole plant in her mouth and pulled it out from the soil. Caladwen took the plant back round to where her brother was and placed it on the floor in front of him "This my brother" she nudged the plant with her paw "Is something I need to eat to help me survive" she thought since the two were alone that she could share some things he might want to know about her "There is other things I need to hunt for in order for me to survive but this is something that I can stomach" she gave a short laugh, laying herself down and picking at the leaves on the plant removing the leaves from the roots. She had mastered this chore from the years of hunting alone and it didn't take her long to pile the sage separate from the roots "It's not something I have to eat daily, although I suppose a daily dose would mean I don't suffer as much" knowing that if she ate it daily she wouldn't get these bouts of pain forcing her to go looking for the medicine Caladwen took the sage into her mouth and began to chew, it wasn't a pleasant taste although it was far better than some of the alternatives that she had found over the years. She managed to eat the whole pile and sighed with relief before standing and making her way over the lake, where she found a thin layer of sheet ice, using her rat like tail she lifted it and smashed through the ice "Here we go Lácri, Fresh crisp water" she motioned with her head for him to come drink with her, meanwhile she lowered her muzzle to the water before lapping the ice cold liquid up, although it was ice cold she was thankful that it washed away the taste of the sage.
Lácrimos wasn't exactly fully useful when it came to looking for herbs, usually he liked to stay away from the stuff, but it was good to know the ones that could help when you were hurt, sick or injured.. despite the fact that he knew them more by their horrid taste than their names... Regardless he followed behind Lana, figuring she had a better chance at finding it than he did. He could hunt like it was nothing.. but for plants? that's another story. Brute watched over her as she sniffed out the scent. The land was baron but there was always the occasional bear that felt like having a go at the water.. never a fun thing. Hopefully they were all asleep for the time being.Mid winter and all. He raised a brow and sat silently as he watched her pick apart the plant. "To survive?"Lácrimos's tail twitched curiously before he stood up to follow her to the water.. oh how he was not a fan of ice or the water. Perhaps he had fallen in one too many times, either way the distaste for going near ice was clear across his face. but he sighed, figuring he could take one for the team so he could keep his sister in good spirits. He grunted as he wandered over. Lowering his head he leaned down beside his sister in a bit of a bow position and lapped down at the water. His eyes closing at the cool feel running down his throat. When finished he shook his head and relieved an "Ah" of relief. "Feeling better then?" Again avoiding to ask what exactly was wrong. he was curious but again knew better than to ask.
Caladwen lifted her head from the water, the refreshing taste made her smile to herself. Turning away from the lake she stepped back a few paces before sitting herself down on the snow, tail instinctively wrapped around her front paws and eyes watched her younger brother "I feel much better now, yes" she paused and turning her head round to look up at the mountain where they had left their brother to rest, looking back to Lácri she smiled at him "Thank you for the company, I've been alone for so long and it's strange although slightly comforting to have others around me again" she had felt a closeness to Acrimonious since the two had met up, not wanting to leave his side and spending as much time as she could being up close and personal with him. She knew that in time she would step on Lácrimos' paws, she liked to interrogate others "I can''t say for sure what will happen to us next, although I can't say neither myself or Acri will want to leave you" knowing that family was important to them both she hoped that this land would become their home, it was the matter of convincing Acrimonious to stay put and fight if others came for him.
Lácrimos had enjoyed a good rest with his siblings for once. However living in these lands he was no fool to danger. He tended to wake up if only for a moment to every little noise, a twitch of his ears, or a blink of his eyes and he'd nod back off..
